A month after the announcement, development on a sequel to the recently burst multiplayer werewolf-killing game Among Us has been cancelled.
In its announcement, Innersloth said that while Among Us' codebase is clunky and old, it also makes sense to keep enhancing it after its sudden explosion of popularity. This means that for a game with far more players than expected, it naturally requires a lot of tweaking.
"We have decided to cancel the development of Among Us 2, while we will focus all our efforts on enhancing Among Us." The studio talked about, "All the content that we intend to add to Among Us 2 will be added to Among Us.""It was probably a tougher decision because it meant we needed to get into the core code of the game and redevelop parts of it."
It looks like the studio is very busy at the moment. With the game bursting onto the scene and spreading widely on Twitch, the studio is improving its servers to handle the surge in players. What's even more surprising is that the game will soon support a colorblind mode, as well as adding new scenarios and a buddy system.
Among Us has been logged into the steam/Android/iOS platform. At present, the game is very well received in the Steam store.
